“What qualifies a good year? Is it accomplishments that mean nothing to anyone but yourself? Is it falling in love for the first time? Or the second? Or the third? Is it quitting a bad habit? Is it becoming closer to the ones you love? Or is it less complex? Could it be that a good year is simply taking all the negativity that life throws in your face day after day and throwing it out of the window on your way to happiness? The highway to happiness seems to be the road less travelled of late. As a society, we have devolved into a state of perpetuate contentment. Which, contrary to popular belief, is not happiness. We wake up. We shower. We get dressed. We go to school or work. We come home, we eat dinner, and we go to sleep only to repeat the next day. And the day after. And the day after that. And our little cycle of life becomes just good enough for us that we think that it is happiness. Happiness can not be simply avoiding life’s bullshit. If it is, there is no point to life. The boundaries we have all set up as our comfort zones must be broken down in order to find happiness.”
